Judy A. Fager, 79, Algoma, passed away unexpectedly, September 10, 2022, at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in the company of loving family. She was born January 27, 1943, in Kewaunee, Wisconsin to Erwin and Edna (Hayes) Schwantes.
At the age of 16 Judy married Herman E. Fager Dec. 5, 1959, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kewaunee. Judy, a loyal and loving wife moved to Virginia, when Herman was drafted into the US Army in 1960 and stationed for 2 years at Fort Lee, Virginia. In 1966, after moving back to the Kewaunee County area following her husband’s honorable discharge, Judy became a life-long farmer alongside her husband after saving enough money to make the down payment on the farm where she spent the remainder of her hard-working life.
Judy had left high school without graduating in 1960 to be with her husband and was proud to earn her GED in 1984. Judy was interested in computers and computer games in her later years which lead her to a business endeavor that would continue throughout the rest of her life. In November of 2000, Judy started Country Crochet her very own eBay store on which she was ranked as a Best Seller where she bought and sold various crafts as well as pattern books for knitting and crochet.
In 2017, Judy became a member of the Door Bible Baptist Church and was later baptized during the following summer of 2018. Judy was a very active member until declining health would no longer allow her to attend church services in person. She remained in contact with the church and always looked forward to meeting with Pastor Mark Englebert when unable to attend.
Judy is survived by her two daughters Mary (Scott) Haucke, Algoma; Sara Lardo (Adam Scudder), Brussels and son Jeremiah (Jill) Fager, Kewaunee; three grandchildren Jayde, Samantha and special friend Jeff Forehand, Cody (Angela); great grandson Jack James Haucke.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Herman Jr., daughter Melissa, grandson Grant Lardo, son-in-law Glen Lardo, husband Herman, and brother Erwin Schwantes Jr.
There will be a public visitation for Judy on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Door Bible Baptist Church, 1607 Stevenson Pier Road, Sturgeon Bay, from 12:00 PM until the time of services at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mark Englebert officiating.
