Dianne Lynn Grovogel, 59, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, (formerly of Algoma, WI), passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, March 4th, after a short battle with cancer.
Dianne was born in Algoma on January 9, 1965, to Donald and Patricia Moore and Sandra Thorner. Dianne graduated as part of the Algoma High School Class of 1983, where her close friends knew her lovingly as “Peck”.
On June 27, 1987, she married James Grovogel, Jr. and together they raised three wonderful children. Dianne devoted herself to her children when they were young, being a stay-at-home mom. She later worked at Harmann Studios where she discovered her passion for taking scenic photos. Later on, she followed in her father’s footsteps working in a local meat department. In her time at Denny’s SuperValu, she made lifelong memories and friendships.
Raising her children was her most rewarding and greatest accomplishment. She was beyond proud of each of them. Her children will always remember her saying, “Because I’m your Mom, that’s why.” They will never forget any of the “scathingly brilliant ideas” she would come up with.
Dianne’s next greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching them how to start fires and work with their hands, take them fishing, help them paint and go for golf cart rides. Dianne treasured every moment she had with them and was never short on snuggles, candy or her beef jerky.
Dianne also had a special place in her heart for her four-legged children, Little Dog and Grover. She loved to spoil them with treats, and they were always at her side.
Dianne loved shooting pool; golfing; painting; fishing; watching fireworks, the Green Bay Packers or true crime shows; listening to audiobooks; taking trips to the cabin; spending time in the sun; cutting lawn; and sitting around a campfire, all while relaxing with a Miller Lite. Dianne will be remembered for her personality, warm kindness, strength and selflessness.
Dianne is survived by her three children, Zachary (Sierra) Grovogel and children, Kaiden & Savannah (Brussels, WI); Stephanie (Reese) Ellison and children, Brooklyn, Reid & Colt (Sturgeon Bay, WI); and Trevor Grovogel and granddog, Ben-Ben (Friendship, WI); parents, Donald and Patricia Moore (Algoma, WI); sisters, Audrey (David) Perry (Sturgeon Bay, WI), Linda (John) McDowell (St. Thomas, PA), Jessica Madison (Shawano, WI); former husband, James Grovogel, Jr. (Forestville, WI); special friend, Donna Gustafson (Sturgeon Bay, WI); lifelong friend, Kristin Jerome (Algoma, WI); along with nieces & nephews and countless other friends.
Dianne was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Thorner, and grandparents, Arthur & Audrey Moore and George & Gertrude Thorner.
We couldn’t have asked for a better mother, daughter, grandma, auntie or friend. She will forever be missed and held close in our hearts. Forever would never have been long enough with you.
Family and friends will gather at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 3:00 PM until the time of services at 6:00 PM with Rev. Mark Kinney officiating. Burial to take place later in the Evergreen Cemetery.
