Amiel taught physics and chemistry from 1961 to 1994 at Muscoda, Spring Green, and Algoma High Schools.  He enjoyed teaching and sharing his knowledge with his students and working with them as their advisor for extracurricular activities.  After retiring from teaching, he worked at WS Packing Group in research and development for 14 years.

Amiel was a diehard Badger football fan, attending all home games with his wife Sue, and traveling with fans to Hawaii, Pasadena, CA, and Florida for the Rose Bowl and championship games.

During spring and fall, Wednesday nights were spent at Black Ash Gun Club shooting trap with the guys.  He greatly enjoyable traveling with his family and with the Algoma Community Band.  Travels included Norway to see relatives, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Ireland, and several states in the USA.
