William Burke Obituary

On Friday evening December 21, 2018, William Joseph Burke (Bill), loving husband and father of two children, peacefully passed away. Bill was born June 30, 1954, in Iron River Michigan to William Glenn Burke and Joan Alice Burke (Couveau). A veteran of the Persian Gulf War, Bill served 20 years in the Air Force until his retirement in 1993. Continuing his passion for Aviation, Bill pursued his Undergraduate Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. With Bill's aviation background he enjoyed working for Tailwind Aviation at Cherryland Sturgeon Bay Airport. On September 18, 1976, Bill married his high school sweetheart Vicki Burke (Gunnlaugson). Together they raised two wonderful children Jason William and Michelle Lois. Bill was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and loved getting together with friends for rides. Music was a very important part of Bill's life. He enjoyed playing guitar and, on many occasions, he would play harmonica with local bands. He was known for his dry sense of humor and compassionate spirit and will be sorely missed by all of those that knew him. He is survived by his wife Vicki, two children, Jason William (Naomi) Burke and Michelle Lois (Drew) Glaus, five grandchildren, his mother Joan Witte, brother's Richard (Rusty) Burke and Steve Burke, sister Denise (Oliver) Kirk, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill was proceeded in death by his father William Glenn Burke and Father-in-law, John Keath Gunnlaugson.
