William 'Jack' Beck, 81, Sturgeon Bay, died Wednesday December 5, 2012 at The Gathering of Door County. He was born April 16, 1931 in Chicago to William and Sylvia (Waselewski) Beck. Jack was a successful self-made man. He owned and operated his own shipping and crating company for many years. He also was a private pilot taking his family on many vacations. He owned three planes over his years of flying. Jack came up to Algoma and lived in his vacation home for 40 years. He will always be remembered for his clever and sarcastic sense of humor. Everyone will miss him and his own sense of humor. Jack was also a huge Bears fan. He married Marilyn Joyce Peacock in Glenview, Ill on November 23, 1951. Survivors include his three children Bill Beck, Mary Jo 'MJ' Gustafson and Jacky Beck; four grandchildren, Spencer Gustofson, Jared Beck and Steven and Michael Beck. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Jimmy in 2002 and his ex-wife Marilyn. Private services will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012 in Sturgeon Bay.
