Willard Kirchman Obituary

Willard H. 'Fuzz' Kirchman, 75, Algoma, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at St. Vincent's Hospital. He was born May 4, 1937 on the farm in Rio Creek, Wis. to Herman and Beatrice (Novak) Kirchman. Willard was raised on the farm in Rio Creek and graduated from the Casco High School. After his graduation he entered the US Army where he served in Alaska for two years. After his discharge he returned to Algoma and started working at the Plumbers Woodwork and then he worked at Kewaunee Lumber Co. Willard married June Breitlow on September 13, 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rankin. After the marriage the couple farmed in Rio Creek until 1981. Willard then worked at the Algoma Lumber Co. until he retired in 1999 at the age of 62. Willard enjoyed following all the sports teams in Wisconsin; Badgers, Packers, Brewers, but especially his children and grandchildren as they grew up playing for the Algoma Wolves and the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans. He loved spending as much time with his eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren as he could. He also enjoyed playing cards, camping, softball, dart ball and playing Santa Claus for all the kids. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was on many committees such as the Building, Finance and was a church Elder. Willard is survived by his wife June of 54 years, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Rhonda (Bob) VanLanen and their children and grandchildren Tyler (Teal) VanLanen and Berkley and Lawsyn; Ryan VanLanen (special friend Amanda Zastrow); Todd (Ann) Kirchman and their children Craig and Lindsey all of Algoma; Dr. Lance (Sue) Kirchman, Luxemburg and their children Taylor and Cole; Marsha (Troy) Mattson, Algoma and their children Morgan and Brooke; two sisters Pearl Jadin, Green Bay and Barbara (John) Rogers, Algoma; one brother Larry (Judy) Kirchman, Rio Creek; brother-in-law Al (Karen) Breitlow, DePere; sister-in-law Sue Breitlow, Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and brother-in-law Ruth (Alfred) Paradise, two brothers-in-law Rod Jadin and Dale Breitlow, father-in-law and mother-in-law Elmer and Violet Breitlow and one nephew Jason Rogers. Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 and after 9 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rankin, until time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev.
