Vivian H. Melchior, 96, Algoma, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. She was born April 24, 1915 in Algoma to Michael and Emily (Urbanek) Melchior. After her graduation from the Algoma High School she attended a business college and moved to Milwaukee and worked for Cutler and Hammer for a few years. She moved back to Algoma and worked at the Kewaunee Court House in a clerical position. After that she worked as a stenographer for Miller and PiesLaw Office in Algoma for many years. Vivian was an excellent seamstress and was always up to date with the fashion world. She enjoyed working in her flowers garden in her earlier years and loved to sing and dance to Bohemian music. While she was up at Bay Road Place she would entertain the other residence with her Bohemian singing and dancing. She was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the church choir. She gave money donations to many Catholic charities over the years. Vivian is survived by numerous cousins. she was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters, Viola and Ruth. Friends may gather at St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma, from10 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank Bay Road Place and Algoma Long Term Care Unit for all the kindness and care given to Vivian these past years.
