Violet (Vi) Marie Varga, 89, Algoma, died January 8, 2012 at the Aurora Baycare Medical Center with her family at her side. She was born December 23, 1922 in Milwaukee to Fredrick and Flora (Vizina) Wallace. As a young lady her family moved to the Algoma area and worked harvesting sugar beets. She met Burt Varga while working with the sugar beets. Burt's family had moved to the area from Nebraska to work . Vi and Burt were married January 23, 1946 in Algoma. Vi then worked at the U.S. Plywood for a few years, while Burt was in the service. After she left the Plywood she stayed home and raising her 11 children. Vi will always be remembered for her love of her family and taking care of each one of them. Everyone that ever met Vi instantly fell in love with her kindness and care for other people. Vi enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, crossword puzzles, regular puzzles, sewing, gardening her flowers, sitting on the sunporch with Burt, traveling to Nebraska to visit Burt's side of the family, writing poetry, ironing everything, keeping a spotless house for her family, her big collection of Angels, watching the Young and Restless Soap Opera everyday, and Burt always made sure that Vi had her 2 p.m. Tea everyday. Vi also said the Rosary everyday for family members, friends and anyone else that needed a prayer that day. Vi is survived by her husband Burt, 11 children, Mary Bauer, TN; Linda (Bob) Adelbush, Howard; Jean (Wayne) Buell, Suamico; Dave (Nancy) Varga, Howard; Steve Varga, Algoma; Al Varga, Two Rivers; Harold Varga, Algoma; Walt Varga, Green Bay; Gary (Louise) Varga, Neenah; Kathy (Dan) Nessinger, Algoma; and Betty (Mark) Reimer, Algoma; grandchildren; Kevin, Tina, Joe, Dan, Jaime, Stephanie, Barb, Jim, Jason, Shelly, Kim, Abby, Cassie, Carey, Brian, Josh, Joe, Ben, Wes, Jesse, Stephanie, Angie, Shannon, Sierra, Autum, Karli and Maddie; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Gladys Jacquart, Leona Kinjerski; one brother Ray Wallace; sisters-in-law Alma Wallace, Ruth (Ritchie) Maughan, Marge Burt, Babe Campbell; brothers-in-law Pete Testen and Ray Maughan. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Katherine Ramona, Loretta and Ann; two brothers Clifford and Norman and one granddaughter Stacey. Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, 118 Church St., Algoma from 3 - 7 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 and then again after 9 a.m. Friday at the church until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. The family wants to thank Sarah and Michelle from the VNA and family members that took great care of Vi so she was able to stay at home up until the last few days of her life.
