SERVICE POSTPONEMENT: The visitation and memorial service initially scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Schinderle Funeral Home in Algoma has been postponed – to be rescheduled and announced as soon a new date is confirmed.
Steven Michael Klatt, 69, of Appleton, formerly of Algoma, entered eternal rest, Tuesday night, January 9, 2024 while at Peabody Manor in Appleton, after a courageous battle with ALS.
He was born at Algoma Memorial Hospital on December 15, 1954, the son of Marvin August Klatt and Arlene Theresa (Parins) Klatt. Steven grew up attending St. Mary Catholic School in Algoma and graduated from Algoma High School.
In the late 1980s, he moved to Appleton. Steven worked various jobs over the years, but the job he enjoyed most was working as a custodian for the Appleton School District.
Steven was a former president of the Jaycees in Appleton. He enjoyed fishing. Steven was an avid sports fan and liked watching the Milwaukee Brewers and collecting baseball cards. He played dartball and bowled in local leagues. Steven had a passion for genealogy and spent a lot time researching his family's history. Above all, he loved his family and was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend.
Steven will be greatly missed by his friend and significant other of 37 years, Karen Harding of Appleton; son and daughter, Bradley Klatt of the Town of Ahnapee and Shanna (Jose) Ramirez of Algoma; their mother, Katherine "Kathy" Bongle of the Town of Ahnapee; three granddaughters, Veronica, Sophia, and Serena Ramirez; four siblings, Mike (Karen) of Green Bay, Randy (Shirley) of Town of Pierce, Paul (Brenda) of Algoma, and Teri (Bob) Plompen of Manitowoc; uncle, Gerald Parins of Luxemburg; aunt, Geraldine Reinhardt of Sturgeon Bay; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Olivia Ann Klatt-Ramirez; and other relatives.
Memorials may be given in Steven's honor for the ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter (www.als.org/wisconsin).
