Shirley Mae Martha Dachelet

Shirley Mae Martha Dachelet, 85, Algoma, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at Bellin Hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1929 on the home farm in Kolberg, Door Co., to Lawrence and Gertrude (Karnitz) Maedke. Shirley was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Kolberg. At the age of eleven her family moved to Algoma where she graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School and then the Algoma High School. Shirley married Marvin J. Dachelet on October 25, 1947. After her marriage she worked at Beach's Five and Dime Store, Katch's Department Store, Algoma Net Company, several restaurants, Plumbers Woodworkers and Emerson Motors.Shirley was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Women of St. Paul's and enjoyed playing Sheepshead with the gang.Shirley is survived by her husband Marvin, seven children Margo Rouse, Marcia (Toby) Swoboda, Lee (Linda) Dachelet, Larry (Dawn) Dachelet, Randall (Roxie) Dachelet, Shireen Dachelet ( special friend Joe Schmidt), all of Algoma; and Ruthann Dachelet, Sturgeon Bay; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one sister-in-law Ruth Kantz, nephew Paul Maedke, niece Barb Trull with many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Stanley and son-in-law Jim Rouse.Family and friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, from 9:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Moldenhauer officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran School or to the Women of St. Paul's.
