Sandy R. Hathaway

Sandy Hathaway, 60, went peacefully to see her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, surrounded by friends, family and her two closest Pastors, at home in Algoma, WI, after a 5 month battle with cancer.Sandy was born on July 29,1953 to the late Rodman and Eleanore (Czerwinski) Forbes in Milwaukee, WI. Sandy retired from the Delphi (AC Spark Plug) plant in Oak Creek, WI. She always said that she was well suited for her work. She enjoyed working with her hands and got a lot of satisfaction out of creating something tangible. Sandy was also very artistic, which lead her to design most of her own jewelry. Each piece was very unique and she wore them everywhere she went. She also loved designing and creating stained glass windows. She made many pieces for family and friends, as gifts. Anyone who had an interest in the craft became an instant student and she taught them well. She was always eager to share her knowledge. Sandy's artistic side also was apparent in her gardening. Every plant and every rock had to be in just the right place. Sandy also loved to swim. There was something missing in a day that she was not in the water. Sandy found her faith many years ago, and had been searching for a place for it to flourish. That place became Lakeside Community Church. Lakeside had wanted to start a program to help people with their 'hurts, habits and hang-ups'. That was a perfect match for Sandy's life experiences, and Celebrate Recovery was started. It became her passion and she worked tirelessly to make the program self sustaining and that was how she left it. Celebrate Recovery is truly her legacy. Finally, she had the joy of witnessing her daughter's,wedding in her home, one week before her passing. Her smile lit up the room, one last time.Sandy is survived by her husband, Jim, her daughter Jessica (Olszewski) and Steve Wendland of West Allis, WI., Sisters Andrea (Forbes) and Frank Kurucz and Rene Forbes, both of Cudahy, WI, nieces Carri Forbes, of Cudahy, WI, Rachelle (Kurucz) and Paul Wronkowski, of Milwaukee, WI, Rebecca (Kurucz) and Steve Plank of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Nephew, Jason and Joyce Kurucz of Sussex, WI. Sandy is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins in Milwaukee and surrounding areas.Friends and Family are invited to a celebration of Sandy's life on Thursday May 8th at 6:30 P.M. at Lakeside Community Church, E6295 County K, Algoma, WI.
