Sandra Kanka

Sandra A. Kanka, 57, Algoma died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at St. Vincent's Hospital from a long illness. She was born June 5, 1953 in Algoma to William and Violet Hegnet. She married James Kanka in 1974 in Sturgeon Bay. She was a stay at home mother. She liked going to Shanty Days, her life line picnic's and playing bingo. She is survived by her husband James of 36 years, daughter Lisa (fianc C.J.), son Brian, her mother Violet Hegnet, two brothers, Bill Hegnet (friend Michelle) and Rick (Lori) Hegnet, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, aunts, cousins and special caregiver Mary Jo. Sandra was preceded in death by son Jimmy, her father William Hegnet, grandpa, grandmas, aunts and uncles. Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 and after 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in the church cemetery.
