Ruth H. Wawirka, 94, Kewaunee, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Kewaunee Care Center. She was born September 6, 1919 to Louis and Clara (Glander) Wawirka. Ruth graduated from the Algoma High School on June 17th, 1937. She attended Whitewater State Teachers College and graduated on June 6th, 1941. She taught shorthand and business at Two Rivers. Later she became the schools Guidance Counselor.She was a world traveler, visiting many countries. She was a member of the Kewaunee County Historical Society. After her retirement she always had time every summer to take her nephews Dan, Jason and Ryan on a summer trip and it was always an adventure.Ruth is survived by Robert (Jane) Glander, Dan (Jackie) Glander and Katie; Ryan Glander and friend Carol and his children Maegan and Jeremy; and Jason (Tonya) Glander; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Glen (Dorothy) Glander and cousin Bert (Edna) Glander.Family and friends may gather at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rankin from 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 until the time of services at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Jackson officiating.
