Ruth D. Viste, 95, Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side. She was born July 15, 1920 to Emil and Amanda (Schmidt) Sperber in the town of Nasawaupee and lived in Door County until her marriage to her sweetheart Ralph Viste on August 6, 1938 in Sturgeon Bay. After her marriage they lived in Kewaunee County. Ruth and Ralph would go polka and waltz dancing once a week for about 50 years. Ruth was a mother of seven children which kept her busy at home. She was a very active member of the Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church, including the Tanum-Forest Women of the church, made quilts and each one of her grandchildren received one. She was a part of the Woodside Homemakers Club. She loved to cook and could make something out of what ever was in the kitchen at the time. She was an avid gardener. She taught all of her grandchildren 500 Rummy card game. For 15 years she played Sheepshead with her relatives and friends while living with her daughter, Susan and her family. She cherished her time spending it with all of her children, grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her seven children Ronald (Kathy) Viste, Eau Claire; Julie (Bill) Cole, Green Bay; Diana (Tony) Wendricks, Middleton; Robert (Linda) Viste, Waupaca; Daniel (Nancy) Viste, Mazomanie; Susan (Jerry) Yunk, Sturgeon Bay and Michael (Rene') Viste, Grafton; 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, one sister Margaret Karnopp, Sturgeon Bay and one brother Willard (Verna) Sperber, Sturgeon Bay; many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph and one brother Elton (Mabel) Sperber.Family and friends may call at the Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church on County OO, Sturgeon Bay, Monday Sept. 14, 2015 from 10:30 am until the time of services at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Bruce Pangborn officiating.
