Ruth M. Hettiger, 91, Algoma, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at home unexpectedly. She was born October 27, 1921 in Algoma to Albert and Lydia (Bieberitz) Crabb. Ruth graduated from the Algoma High School and was employed at Katch's Department Store for many years. She married Virgil Hettiger November 22, 1958 at the Algoma United Methodist Church where she was a life long member and a life time reident of Algoma. Ruth loved to sew and crochet, work in her garden, do word search puzzles and travel with her husband Virgil and she always said 'You got to go while you can.' Ruth also had a collection of teddy bears and was a cat lover. She had two grand cats Gage and Maggie who came to visit her. Ruth was still living in her own home at the time of her death. She is survived by her daughter Allison (Kevin) LaLuzerne, Algoma; and her two granddaughters Sami and Macy. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil on June 5, 2006, parents Albert and Lydia and her in-laws William and Ruby Hettiger. Family and friends may call at the Algoma United Methodist Church, Tuesday July 23, 2013 from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with Pastor Annie Tricker officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Algoma United Methodist Church in memory of Ruth.
