Ruth Mildred Burmeister

Ruth M. Burmeister, 96, Algoma, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. She was born September 14, 1921 in Forestville to Emil and Anna (Duwe) Wilke. Ruth attended the Forestville and Carnot Schools. After school she worked in the Chicago area as a housekeeper and nanny for a private family for a short period. She then came to Algoma and worked at the US Plywood where she met Harold Burmeister. They were married May 31, 1947 at St. Peter's Church, Forestville. After the marriage Ruth was pretty much a stay at home mother raising her eight children. Ruth enjoyed her time with family, gardening, bird watching, reading and playing cards.She is survived by her seven living children Linda (Allen) Haszel, Kewaunee; Dennis Burmeister, Forestville; Diane Marit, Milwaukee; Ron Burmeister, Green Bay; Carol, Attleboro, MA; Janet (Ken) Hecker, Algoma; and Lois Burmeister (Robert Whitford), Algoma; three granddaughters Karen (Dennis) Steinhorst, Kathy (Ken) Harz and Sara Burmeister; five great grandchildren Carolyn, Kyle, Dylan, Logan and Brittany; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, son John, brothers Leonard Wilke and Marvin (Barbara) Wilke; and two sisters Verna (Victor) Laurent and Helen (Elmer) Schiesser. Family and friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with Rev John Moll and Rev. Joel McKenney officiating.
