Roger E. Schumacher, 83, Algoma, passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Ministry Door County Medical Center after a short illness. He was born Aug. 19, 1930 in Brussels to Otto and Julia (Kay) Schumacher. Roger helped on the home farm until his marriage to Caroline Plinske on June 6, 1964 in Algoma. The couple had a cash cropping farm and Roger also worked as a mechanic at various dealerships for a number of years. He still had his 40 acres that he worked for cash cropping. He had other land rented out to other farmers. Roger enjoyed cash farming and driving his tractors. Roger is survived by his wife Caroline, one sister-in-law Jane Ebert, Algoma; five nieces Janice (Dwight) Krimbill, Cindy (Brian) Sargent, Tracy (Michael) Schroeder, Joan Leanna and Carol (Jim) Euclid; four nephews Harold (Janet) Ebert, Larry (Karen) Braun, Jim Braun and Dale Braun; many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gerhardt Schumacher, one sister Arvilla Maedke, one nephew Gary Schumacher, two brothers-in-law Wilmer Plinske and Harley Ebert; and one sister-in-law Jeanette Braun. Friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, from 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 until the time of services at 5 p.m. with Rev. Tom Moldenhauer officiating.
