Roger E. Maedke, 85, Algoma, passed away Tuesday, Jan 13, 2015, at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. He was born Feb. 4, 1929 in the Township of Brussels. After he graduated from Algoma High School and worked at the Plumbers before being drafted in the Army.Roger was in the Army and served in the Korean War. He pursued his degree in Floraculture and worked on Belle Isle in Michigan for the city of Detroit, specializing in Poinsettia's. He retired in the early 1991 and then moved back to Algoma in 1998. Roger is survived by two sister and brother-in-law Alice (Frank) Schmidt, Algoma; Verna (Jim) Kiefer, Muskego; one nephew Steve Schmidt, Kewaunee; and niece Laurel (Roland) Marshall, Glencoe, CA and one cousin Orville Kay, Forestville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 10 am, Saturday, Jan.17, 2015 until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Howard Batt officiating.
