Robert John (Bob) Novak

Robert (Bob) Novak, 93, Algoma, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. He was born November 14, 1920 in Scarboro to Frank and Ella (Bucholtz) Novak.Bob was a graduate of the Algoma High School. He served his country as a US Marine in the Pacific Theater and saw action in Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. After his discharge Bob came back to the Algoma area and was a US Mail Carrier for many years. Bob married Dorothy Lehmkuhl May 11, 1946 in Kewaunee. After he retired as a mail carrier, Bob was a bartender at various places in Algoma.Bob was a great Packer fan, loved to hunt, fish on Lake Michigan, tend to his vegetable garden, where he was always giving his produce away. Bob also spent many hours with his two hunting dogs. Bob is survived by his daughter Gail (John) Wienke, Forestville; one son Mark Novak, Frederick, CO; two grandchildren Courtney Fuhler, Forestville and Andrew Wienke, Green Bay; one great grandson Jack; one sister Marion (Tootie) Romdenne, Kewaunee; two sisters-in-law Ardith Novak, Manitowoc and Ardelle Lehmkuhl, Plymouth; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, one brother Roy and one sister Pearl Delorit and many other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 4 - 8 p.m., Sunday, May 11, 2014.
