Robert McLaren Obituary

Robert D. McLaren, 93, formerly of Algoma, died July 16, 2012 in Rockford, IL. He was born Nov 23, 1918 in Hudson, New York. Bob was a pharmacist in the Rockford area for 60 years. Bob was proud of being a true Scotsman. He married Jane W. (Blahnik) Weikel McLaren in Rockford in 1988. After he retired they moved to Algoma where they had lived for 20 years, before moving two years ago. Bob was very active at his church including singing in the choir, he loved living in Wisconsin and enjoying the Lake Michigan right outside his window, he belonged to the Algoma Optimist Club and a member of the Republican Party. He had returned to his heritage of Scotland three times with Jane and enjoyed playing the bagpipes. Bob is survived by his wife Jane, his three children and his step children who loved him like their own father, Laurie (Dan) Miller, Sullivan, WI; Jim Weikel, Lake Geneva, WI; Barbara (Tom) Wilson,Egg Harbor, WI; Mary Weikel, Rockton, IL; and Bill (Deb) Austin, Sugarland, TX.
