Robert (Bob) Hillmer, 73, Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully at home, Thursday July 7, 2011 with his wife Sandy by his side. Bob was born October 19, 1937 in Juneau, Wis. to Alexander and Anna (Maas) Hillmer. Bob and his family moved to Algoma where Bob graduated from the Algoma High School. He entered the US Army and served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. After his discharge he was asked to come back to the home farm and help due to the illness of his parents. While on the farm Bob delivered the Green Bay Press Gazette for 17 years. Bob retired after many years on the farm. He married Sandy Phillips in Valders on February 22, 1983. Bob enjoyed all the nature around his home and spent his time planting trees, gardening and collecting different types of rocks. Bob's faith with the Lord was very strong and knew the Lord would be there to take him home. He is survived by his wife Sandy, his two children Licia and Michael, three stepsons Ken, John and Dave, four grandchildren Zach, Deja, Bailey and Peyton and two step grandchildren Aedan and Zander. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Kim. There will be a graveside service for Bob on Saturday, July 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Valders off of Hwy 151 with Pastor Larry Zessin and Rev. Don Rose officiating.
