Phil A. Good Jr., 84, Algoma, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at his daughter's home in Wrightstown after a short courageous battle with cancer. Phil was born Aug. 24, 1929 in Chicago to Felix and Anna (Jurgel) Good. Phil married Maryann Lenarczak in Illinois and they were married for 32 years. As a young man Phil was very active in his committee as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Village trustee in public office and a library trustee. He was a member of the US Power Squadron, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign War. He worked at Taylor Forge Pipe Works in Chicago as a painter before entering the US Army from 1951 to 1953 serving over in Germany. After his honorable discharge he was a Police Officer in the Chicago area for a number of years. Then Phil worked as a security guard for Reynolds Metals in McCook, IL. where he retired. Then Phil moved to Algoma were again he was very active in the community with civic organizations and a member of the Algoma Boat Club. Phil loved to fish on his boat the 'Philly 2'. He would take anyone that wanted to go fishing, because that meant he could also do some fish on the lake. Phil was a member of the 'Silver Fuzz Club, which included many retired police officers in the Algoma area. He will always be remembered by his kindness he gave to everyone he met and his unlit cigar in his mouth. He will be sadly missed by all his family, US Coast Guard Auxiliary buddies and anyone else who knew Phil. Phil married Erma (Neuzil) Villers in Algoma on March 13, 1994 and Erma preceded him in death on May 1, 2002. Phil is survived by his four children Peggy (Judd) (Good) Baker, Patty (Good) Bezecny, Phil ( Cindy) Good and James Good; six grandchildren Ryan and Jenni Baker, John (Kelly) and Bobby Bezecny and Kevin and Katie Good; one brother Tony Good. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Maryann, and two sisters. Friends may gather at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 4 - 8 PM, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 and after 10 AM Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 118 Church St., Algoma until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. A Veterans Service will be held at 6 PM Wednesday, Oct 9th followed by a Prayer Service at 7 PM with Pastoral Minister Kathy Zeman. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma, with full military rites at the graveside. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.schinderle.
