Pete (Cleon) Rhoades, 77, went to meet his Lord Feb. 7th, 2015 at home where he was cared for and surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with emphysema and lung cancer. He was born Oct. 7, 1937 in Green Bay to Jeramiah and Charlotte (Bauldwin) Rhoades. Pete attended West High School prior to joining the US Army in Nov. 1954. He served four years, three of which he was stationed in Germany. Pete met Darlene Eggert in 1960 and they were married Dec. 16, 1961 in Algoma. They lived most of their life in Gregorville.Pete worked at various companies with the shipyards and Hatco being his last places of employment until he retired in 2002.His music and his dancing were his passion in life, especially playing Johnny Cash songs on his guitars. Pete is survived by his wife Darlene, one daughter Melody Rhoades, Algoma; two sons Terry Rhoades (Danielle Tomes), Algoma and Kory Rhoades, Fort Bragg, N.C.; four grandchildren Heather Swagel, Lacey Shaw, Harley and Zachery Rhoades; five step grandchildren Tyler and Brianna Tomes, Ashlynn, Danny and Jeff, four step-great grandchildren, eight siblings Robert (Nita) Rhoades, Darrell (Jackie) Rhoades, Mary Jane Charlier, Rose Mary Braun all of Green Bay; Shirley (Armin) Johnson, Milwaukee; Nancy (Carroll) Anderson, Edgerton, Wis.; Ruby Myers, Kingsport, TN and Dennis Rhoades, Wautoma, Wis. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Wayne and Scott, four brothers Ashley, George, Kyle and Tommy; three sisters Violet, Geraldine and an infant sister.Family and friends may call at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rankin, on Sat. Feb. 14, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Chris Jackson officiating. There will be Full Military Rites after the service at the church.The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice, DePere, Sturgeon Bay Oncology, the V.A. for all the oxygen equipment and helping the family in many other ways, Pete's children for all their help and support and Rev.
