Michael (Mike) Paul Vlies

Michael Paul (Mike) (Zooner) Vlies, 63, Kewaunee, passed away, Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, with his brother and sister at his side, after complications from bladder cancer and diabetes.  He was born March 5, 1960, in Algoma to Ralph and Betty (Picha) Vlies.
  Mike graduated from St. Mary Grade School and then from Algoma High School, in 1978, where he ran cross-country.  
  He worked at the Algoma Hardwoods for 38 and a half years, until the company closed its doors.  
  Mike enjoyed putting his 1969 Corvette in car shows, watching WWE Wrestling, the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys and later in life traveling and sitting on the beach.
  Mike is survived by his father, Ralph, Algoma; brother Terry (Jill) Vlies, Green Bay and sister Lori Lischka, Wrightstown; two nieces and two nephews Alex (Marge) Vlies, Sam Vlies, Nicholas (fiancé Katie) Lischka and Ashley (fiancée Paul) Lischka.  
  He was preceded in death by his mother Betty, brother-in-law Scott Lischka, paternal grandparents Ralph and Sara Vlies, Sr. and maternal grandparents George and Bessie Picha.
  The family would like to thank the entire staff at Aurora Cancer Center for the care and compassion given to our brother Mike.
  It was Mike's wishes not to have a public service.
  The Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, was entrusted with the arrangements for Mike.
