Melvin Haack, 95, Algoma, died peacefully Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. He was born Dec. 30, 1919 in Rio Creek to William and Elsie (Obry) Haack. As a young man he helped on the home farm. Melvin later worked at the US Plywood in Algoma before entering the US Army. He served with the 50th Army Infantry Battalion and the 621st Medical Clearing Co. After his discharge Melvin went back to work at the US Plywood for a time, then he worked at Plumbers Woodworking until his retirement. Melvin married Arvilla Delwiche in Menomonee, Mich. on July 15, 1971. Arvilla preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 2004. Melvin was a member of the American Legion and St. John's Lutheran Church of Rankin. Melvin enjoyed his precious time he spent with his grandchildren and also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and gardening.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jerry (Rose) Haack, Milwaukee; daughter and son-in-law Deborah (Lee) Wagner, Algoma; seven grandchildren Rebecca Wagner and David Wagner, both of Algoma; Michelle (David) Gussert, Little Suamico; Kevin Alsteen, Green Bay; Annette Balza, Green Bay; Kim and Kay Haack both of Milwaukee; four great grandchildren Clayton, Brooks, Caitlin and Christopher; one brother and sister-in-law Lester (Joyce) Haack, Combined Locks; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was further preceded in death by his parents grandson Mark Balza, brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph (Evelyn) Haack and Maynard (Arvilla) Haack, two infant brothers, sisters and brothers-in-law Eleanor (Felix) Romuald and Lorraine (Earl) Ludvigsen.Family and friends may call at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rankin from 9 am, Friday, March 6, 2015 until the time of services at 11 am with Rev. Chris Jackson officiating. Full military rites after the church service. Burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
