Matthew S. Derenne, 58, Algoma, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at home with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 24, 1964 in Kewaunee to Norbert Derenne and Evelyn Brennan.
Matt graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1982 and married Jean Bowman at St. Hedwig’s in East Krok on September 27, 1986.
Matt’s last job was working at MCC Printing Company in Algoma for over ten years.
Matt cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, racing, watching NASCAR, volunteering in Boy Scouting activities, throwing darts, and just being outside.
Matt is survived by his loving wife, Jean, of 36 years; and their five children: Emily (Justin), Amanda (Kyle) Bliss, Shawn (Miranda), Holly (John) and Eli (Jamie); eight grandchildren Merrick, Bronson, Arabella, and Cecilia, Kole, Wyatt and Macie and Mercades; his mother Evelyn Shimp; one brother Michael Derenne, Sr. and one sister Marilyn Derenne; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norbert Derenne; two brothers Mitchell Derenne and Mark Derenne; his father-in-law Harry Bowman; and one angel grandchild.
Matt’s family would like to give a very special thank you to his mom, Evelyn, for all the care and comfort she provided. Also, to Jenn with Unity Hospice, for her attentiveness.
There will be a public visitation for Matt, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Schinderle Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 12:00 PM with Ken Kinstetter officiating. Burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
