Mary Sharon Stangel

Mary S. Stangel, 74, Algoma, died Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Bellin Hospital. She was born November 7, 1942 in Algoma to Arthur and Myrtle (Bank) Haack. Mary graduated from the Algoma High School and received her nursing degree from NWTC. Mary spent her working career in health care with her nursing degree working at the Algoma Hospital and other health care facilities in the Algoma area.Mary married Tom Stangel on October 31, 1964 at St. Mary Church, Algoma.Mary's joy in life was the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and her one great granddaughter. She also enjoyed doing craft painting and going to garage sales. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma.Mary is survived by her husband Tom, three children Jim (Jamie) Stangel, Algoma; Jenny (Phil) Schmidt, Algoma and Joseph (Schmoe) Stangel, Green Bay; 10 grandchildren Ashley, Kara, Casey, Jessie (Eric), Cayla, Cassie, Matthew, Andy, Zach and Breanne; great granddaughter Emily; special daughter-in-law Jeanne Stangel, Green Bay; three brothers Ken (Shirley) Haack, Jim (Barb) Haack, and John (Gail) Haack, one sister Nancy (Dave) Kuchinski; one sister-in-law Mary Jane Spink, many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Myrtle and her in-laws Joe and Helen Stangel.Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma from 2 PM, Friday, November 25, 2016 until the time of the Litergy at 5 PM with Rev. Peter Stryker officiating.
