Marvin Specht Obituary

Marvin R. Specht, 80, Algoma, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at St. Vincent's Hospital. Marvin was born in Manitowoc, WI on September 20, 1930, a son of the late Ramona (Bertalaet) and Richard Specht. Marvin graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1948. He entered and served in the US Navy from 1951 -1954 aboard a destroyer and sub-tender in the Pacific. Marvin was a scuba diver in the Navy and dived many times in the Pacific Ocean. He was the husband of Beverly (Oswald) Specht. On March 15, 1952, they were married in Chicago, IL. He worked for American Airlines for 28 years holding various assignments for the company and for 25 of those years he lived in Hawaii on the Oahu and Molokai Islands. He also worked as a commercial fisherman. The couple ended up moving to Algoma, where Marvin was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Algoma Knights of Columbus. Marvin is survived by his wife Beverly, two brothers-in-law William (Judy) Oswald, Conn.; and Thomas (Sarah) Oswald, Kewaunee; sister-in-law Patricia Zuege, Kewaunee; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Reginald and an infant sister Barbara. Friends may gather at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Burial to take place in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Dyckesville.
