Marvin Joseph Dachelet

Marvin Joseph Dachelet, 90, Algoma, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at Bellin Hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1926 in Algoma to Henry and Laura (Vandenhouten) Dachelet. Marvin graduated from the Algoma High School and entered the U.S. Air Force on June 22, 1945. He was honorably discharged March 1, 1947.Marvin married Shirley Maedke on Oct. 25, 1947 in Algoma.Marvin started his working career at the US Plywood in Algoma. He worked there until the strike. He then became a Union Carpenter and traveled all over doing construction. He then went to Hammacheks in Kewaunee until the company closed. Then he worked at Peterson Builders in Sturgeon Bay until his health made him retire.Marvin was known as Mr. Fix-it. He could fix almost anything and make it better then it was. He made cabinets for all of his children. He was an avid sports fan, including the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. Marvin was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 42 in Algoma, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.Marvin is survived by his seven children, Margo Rouse, Marcia (Toby) Swoboda, Lee (Linda) Dachelet, Larry (Dawn) Dachelet, Randall (Roxie) Dachelet, Shireen Dachelet (special friend Joe Schmidt), all of Algoma and Ruthann Dachelet, Sturgeon Bay; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters Cyrilla (Sue) Zeman, Kewaunee and Angie (John) Paplham, Algoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, two brothers Carl (Millie) and Lloyd (Shirley and Marion) Dachelet and one son-in-law Jim Rouse.Family and friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, from 9 AM, Monday Jan 2, 2017 until the time of services at 11 AM, with Rev. Joel McKenney officiating.
