Marion Thielke Obituary

On August 22, 2013, our Mom, Marlon Naze Thielke, drew her last breath. As family gathered around her to say good-bye, and as each one of us touched her cheek as she faded from this life, there was a host of loved ones waiting to welcome her to her heavenly home--and what a celebration it was ! Our Mom was never one to dwell on her own achievements, and she would be embarrassed if we attempted to list them here. She was more interested in others' accomplishments and was effusive with her praise. If you were one of the fortunate to have received a personal note from her, you know what we're talking about. It didn't matter if she knew you or not, although she was always most proud of her kids and grand kids, her extended family, and her AIgoma neighbors, she didn't hesitate to write a note of thanks and praise to a complete stranger she'd read or heard about. She wanted them to know someone cared and appreciated what they had done. The stack of letters she received from Presidents, coaches, teachers, and others we have no clue who they are, thanking Mom for recognizing and appreciating their efforts, is testament to her prolific praise of others. Our Mom was a teacher. Although she loved teaching English grammar, and loved teaching kids to read, her God given gift was in mentoring others how to live full and rich lives in their Christian faith. She had no format curriculum to offer, but instead was a living model of what she taught. From her days at Mount Mary College, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, to her days teachinq English at Oconto Falls, to her time working at Katch's Dept. Store or with Dr. Art Gorz, to her volunteering at St. Mary Elementary School teachlnq youngsters to read, or the Algoma Public Library, she was never stingy with her time, talent, or treasure. Mom was born on October 19th, 1924 and is survived by her five kids: Susan (Steve Bero), Littleton, CO; Bonnie (Chuck Temple), Springfield, OR; Mary (Phil Perso), Brookfield, WI; Michael (Debbie Hutton), Mountain, WI; Patrick (Ann Pennypacker), Houston,TX,. seven grandchildren: Michael (Kelly) Perso, Joel Perso, Jeremy (Tarah) Perso, Rick (Claire) Thielke, Janet ThieIke, Cara Temple, Stephen (Katlyn) Temple, and one great grandson, Julius Perso. She is also survived by her dear brother Robert (Gloria), special friend Marge Naze and all her beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Xavier and Helen Naze, and her brother, Ferdinand Naze. Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 4 - 8 PM, Friday, August 30, 2013 and after 10 AM Saturday, August 31 at St. Mary Catholic Church until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Rev.
