Lyle Elbert Schmiling

Lyle Schmiling 78, Algoma, passed away unexpectedly on June 21, 2016. He was born march 1, 1938 to Elbert and Olive (Viste) Schmiling. He was a man who found true joy and happiness in life. Lyle married Beverly Maedke on Oct. 4, 1958 at the Forest Lutheran Church in Carnot. His faith. his family, and his friends were his highest priorities. His career as a teacher and coach, his 16 years in Kewaunee County Emergency Government, and his many years in zoning were driven by his desire to help others. Lyle's talents extended into his workshop or out on the family land. His talent for woodworking and fixing anything mechanical made him a wonderful resource for his family and friends. Lyle never turned away anyone in need of help. Friendship was very important to him. His time with the Subway Coffee Crew was a perfect start toevery day, and his card playing, projects, and talks with his friends always made him smile. Lyle's love for his family was immeasurable, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with them. He took pride in the accomplishments of every one of his children, grandchildren. and great grandchildren. He seldom missed a sporting event, band concert, or stage performance when family was involved. Lyle was a part of every milestone in his family's life. He was always there with a smile, an idea, a listening ear, a helping hand, or a shoulder to lean on. He will be missed and treasured at the same time. Lyle is survived by his wife Bev, four children Jill (Lyle) Nell, Shelly Nell, Terri (Dean) Blahnik and Steve (Heidi) Schmiling all of Algoma; 10 grandchildren Nick ( Michelle) Nell, Brooke (Karl) Gildner, Megan (Pete) Bormann, Casey (Frederick) Agbottah, Alex Blahnik (fiancee' Ryan Smith), Zach, Kennedy and Bobbi Blahnik, and Sebastian and Connor Schmiling; five great grandchildren Westin and Lucy Gildner, Brody and Finn Bormann and Miles Agbottah; one brother Lee (Sandy) Schmiling, one sister Joann Wiesner; brothers-in-law Wayne (Marilyn) Maedke, Gary (Sue) Maedke and Ken Maedke, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Olive Schmiling; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bill and Esther Maedke; brother-in-law. Gene Wiesner; and son-in-law, Doug Nell. Family and friends may gather at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 406 4th Street, Algoma, from 3 PM - 8 PM, Sunday June 26, 2016. Prayer service at 8 PM Sunday at the church. Visitation continues on Monday June 27th from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM. with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank Algoma Rescue, the crew of County Rescue Eagle 3, the Bellin Cardiac Unit, and Pastor Moll for their dedication and professionalism. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Algoma High School Track and Field Team or St. Paul's Church.The SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, assisted the family with arrangements.
