LaVerne Doris Blahnik

LaVerne Doris Blahnik, age 92, of Swartz Creek, MI. formerly of Lakeland, FL and Goodrich, Mlpassed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at home. LaVerne was born March 29, 1922 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Frieda (Behm) Hackert. She was a Veteran of the US Navy serving from 1944 to 1946. LaVerne married Lloyd E. Blahnik shortly after being introduced by their grandmothers who were good friends.Lloyd and LaVerne shared 67 years of loving marriage. LaVerne was a stay-at-home mom, but she drove a school bus in Goodrich for many years. She enjoyed canning, gardening, sewing, playing cards, and especially cherished spending quality time with her family and friends. They lived in Goodrich for 30 years, spent the next 30 years in Lakeland, Florida, and moved back to Michigan to be near family 2 1l2 years ago. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lakeland, Florida and most recently joined Faith Lutheran Church, Grand Blanc. MI.Surviving are her husband, Lloyd; children, Marilyn Quinn (Patrick) of Canton, Kathleen Hovis(Vernon) of Swartz Creek, Gary Blahnik (Cheryl) of Corunna; daughter-in-law, Roseann Blahnik of Plainwell; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Moore (Michael), Jill Price (Jason), Jonathon Hovis (Holly),Bryan Quinn (Kate), Kevin Quinn (Chessie), Erin Quinn, Lauryn Graham (Matthew), Emily Blahnik,Kristyn and Matthew Blahnik; 9 great-grandchildren, Tyson, Trent and Ella Moore, Carmen Quinn,Connor Hovis, Rylee Price, Caroline and Bradley Quinn, Brayden Blahnik and one great- \granddaughter oh the way. She was also preceded in death by her son, Lary Blahnik and brother,Ronald Hackert. Family and friends may call at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma from 1 pm Thursday, April 24, 2014 until the time of services at 3 pm with Rev. Christopher Jackson officiating.
