June Gerhart

June R. (Fotey) Gerhart, 76, Algoma, passed away unexpectedly at her home, May 1, 2011. she was born June 16, 1934 in Green Bay to James and Ruth (Jakubovsky) Fotey. June graduated from the Algoma Elementary and high school in 1952. June then attended and graduated from the Door-Kewaunee County Normal School and began her long teaching career. She started at the Gregorville one - room school and went on to teach the primary grades at Alaska State Grade School for a few years, then she began her many years of teaching primary grades at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Algoma. June also taught many Kewaunee County residents to read, write, add and subtract. This was a wonderful reward for her as a teacher who loved her students. June enjoyed gardening, watching the birds, reading and the company of her cats. June is survived by her sister Patricia (Joe) Cichon, Algoma; one cousin Gary (Dawn) Jakubovsky, Sturgeon Bay; and nieces, nephews and their children. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Aunt Beatrice Jakubovsky, Uncle and Aunt Louis and Janet (Berg) Jakubovsky and her grandparents Albert and Amanda (Bruemmer) Jakubovsky. Family and friends may gather at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.
