Joseph Anthony Steiner

Joseph Anthony Steiner, 69, Algoma, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Algoma to the late Anton and Frances (Wortiska) Steiner on April 8, 1946. Joe married the love of his life, Evelyn Vanderkinter, on Feb. 24, 1973 and later that year took over the family farm. In 2000, Joe had converted the farm over to a solely organic operation.Joe never hesitated to help out a friend or family member in need. He enjoyed working on the farm, watching the weather forecasts, playing sheepshead with his family, listening to music, and planning celebrations. He was passionate about small family farms and organic farming methods because of their environmental and health benefits.Joe will be greatly missed by his wife, Evelyn, six children Anthony Steiner, Algoma; Christine Steiner, Vancouver, WA; Kim Steiner, Portland, OR; Mary Frances Hull, Seattle, WA; Karen Johnson, Waukesha, WI; and Elizabeth Steiner, Glen Ellyn, IL; two grandchildren Anton and Abigail Steiner; three sisters Elaine Dufek, Algoma; Carole Boulanger, Green Bay; and Rita Boedecker, Racine. Joe was preceded in death by his parents.Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 4 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015 and after 9 am Wednesday at the funeral home until the time of services at 11 am with Rev.
