Joseph Cichon Jr Obituary

Joseph A. Cichon, Jr.,84, Algoma, died at home on September 16,2016. Joe was born in Chicago to Joseph Sr. and Mary (Loch) Cichon. He attended Fenwick High School and enlisted in the US Marine Corps after graduation and served honorably in the Korean War. When he returned from Korea he was stationed in Washington, DC and was a member of USMC Drill Team. He had many stories to tell of his Marine Corps day. He attended and graduated from lllinois Instituteof Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering. Joe worked for the Corps of Engineers for a short time, but most of his professional career was with the lllinois Dept. of Transportation. He oversaw many expressway projects and received the Superior Achievement Award in 1971.Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Fotey). Together they parented Christopher, Yelm, WA; Ruth (Jos) Goldrick, Evergreen Park, lL; and Thomas (Maria)of Lockport, lL. He is further mourned by his grandchildren, Jay, Ellen, and Tim Goldrick and Stephanie Cichon, as well as his sister, Marcia Kozenczak and nieces and nephew. Preceded in death by his parents and in-laws.Family and friends may call at St. Agnes By-the-Lake Episcopal Church, Algoma, from l0 AM until time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 with Vicar Robert Hoppe officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.Memorials may be sent to St. Agnes Episcopal Church, Algoma or the Door County Humane Society, Sturgeon Bay, Wl.
