John Jorgenson Obituary

John D. (Jack) Jorgenson, Algoma passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 4, 2013 . His family was by his side as he entered heaven, and into the arms of his Lord and Savior. Jack was born on January l, 1929 in Algoma to the late Virgil & Hilda (Marquardt) Jorgenson. He was a life long resident of Algorna, graduating from St. Paul's Lutheran School and Algoma High School. In 1946 Jack enlisted in the US Army, and he served until the end of 1947. On June 10, 1950 Jack married Helen Uhlemann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor, WI. In 1958 Jack and Helen moved to their current home along Lake Michigan, where they both enjoyed watching the lake and all the wild life that visited their property. Jack loved fishing, hunting, and especially being with his family, and his many friends. Jack had a special gift of being a friend to everyone he met, and had a story to tell on every occasion. Jack was a life long faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, serving on the stewardship board, and Board of Elders. He developed lasting friendships with all the pastors at St. Paul's. He was also a charter member of the Algoma Boat Club and the Algorna Rescue Squad, and was a member of the American Legion. He was employed at the Algoma (Plywood) Hardwoods for 41 years. Survivors include his wife Helen of 63 years, his four sons Larry (Carolyn), Lee (Julie), Terry (Deanna), Tony (Carla): eight grandchildren Andy Jorgenson, Mike (Toni) Jorgenson, Taylor (Sarah) Jorgenson, Cameron (Jessica) Jorgenson, Jonathan, Tanika Jorgenson, Danielle, Talia Jorgenson, step grandchild Amy (Chad) Blahnik, three great grandchildren Garrett, Kendra Jorgenson, Carmen Jorgenson, three step great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Xzavier, Elijah Blahnik, half brother Jim Pierquet, a sister in-law Doris Parent, many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil & Hilda Jorgenson, stepmother Vivian Jorgenson, an infant brothers, his in-laws Otto & Martha (Gerschner) Uhlemann, sister & brother in-laws Ruby & Freeman Schultz, Alice & Martin Kipp, and Christa & Albert Prust. Funeral services will be held on Wed. Aug, 7, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma. Visitation will be from 8 am until the time of service at 11 am. with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma. Jack's family wants to especially thank Dr. Gerald Bayer and his staff at Green Bay Oncology for all the care given to Jack over the last 23 years. Thank you also to Pastors Moldenhauer, Moll, and Beyer for all your prayers, visits, and support and to Unity Hospice and the Schinderle Funeral Home . A special thank you to Jack''s many dear friends and neighbors, for all your visits, transports to doctors appointments, meals, and just being there. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Jack was a very special person, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who touched the lives of many through his kindness. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 406 4th St., Algoma, WI 54201.
