The morning of October 15, 2024, Joel Patrick Jeanquart passed peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children after almost six years of battling cancer.
Joel was born on March 13, 1965, to Nancy (Fiefarek) and Floyd Jeanquart; the youngest of 8 siblings. In 1983, he graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree from UW Oshkosh, he enlisted for four years of service in the United States Army. Proudly stationed in Germany during Desert Storm, he made lifelong friendships and truly enjoyed his time in service.
After the military, he began his career with the United States Postal Service. While walking his route in Chicago, IL, he met the mother of his children and decided to move back home to Door County, WI.
Fulfilling his dream, Joel purchased 35 acres and created a self-sustaining homestead. A well-known foodie: always processing produce or cooking up something new, he shared whatever he grew with others. Other than fishing on the lake every morning, you could find him trying new projects, hunting, relaxing with good friends, or planning for the future.
In the summer of 2019 Joel was diagnosed with cancer, forcing his retirement after 29 years of walking his route. Joel married the love of his life, Jodi Zimmerman, on July 23, 2019. Together, they sold his house and moved to Algoma and continued to pursue a life of adventure and love. They traveled extensively, including fulfilling Joel’s dream of RV living for as long as his diagnosis allowed.
Joel has been reunited with his parents, Nancy and Floyd as well as his siblings James, Jonathon, Jerold, and Julaine. He is survived by his wife Jodi, his children Eli and Emma, along with siblings Jennifer (Charlie) McCrea; Jeffery (Dawn); Jay (Mary); brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron Zimmerman and Tod (Toni) Zimmerman; many nieces and nephews.
If you wish to celebrate his life, help someone in need and pay it forward when you get the chance.
The family thanks Dr. Gautam and his staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic and the staff at Unity Hospice in De Pere for their exceptional care.
The Schinderle Funeral Home was entrusted with Joel’s arrangements for his family.
