James P LaFond 'Zeke', 77, passed away peacefully Monday, September 7, 2015 with his family by his side. Born June 14th, 1938, in Algoma, he is the son of the late Clarence and Mildred (Toebe) LaFond. Jim is a graduate of Algoma High School, Class of '56. He faithfully served his country in the US Army stationed in Korea. After serving he worked for Mark Sand and Gravel Fergus Falls, MN in the summer and Seiler Oil Company in the winter. Jim married Mary Ann Kirchman on Oct.14, 1967, at St. John's Lutheran Church Rankin, WI. He then started working for the Kewaunee County Highway department in 1968 and retired in 1999. In retirement he worked for the Algoma School District as a van driver. He was a Packer fan and charter member of the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame and also enjoyed watching the Brewers and Badgers. But his greatest time was being part of the Felix Dart racing pit crew for many years and hanging out with his son and the guys at the shop and in the trailer on race nights.Jim is survived by his wife Mary Ann, and one son and his wife, Marty (Sherry) LaFond all of Algoma, step grandson Ryan Eggert of Algoma, sister Jean Spanks of Menomonee, niece Jamie(Sean) Nagel and their son Peter and daughter Kit of Egan, MN, and special cousin Joyce (Bob) Van Oss of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Walter and Florence Kirchman; brother-in-law Al Spanks, nephew Sean Spanks, sister-in-law Yvonne Kirchman and many aunts and uncles and cousins.Per Jim's wishes there will be a private family service at time of interment with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma, WI. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a future date with family and friends to share some old stories and laughs.
