Ivy K. Sayre, 51, Algoma, died Thursday March 21, 2013 at the Dorchester-Golden Living Center after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 9, 1961 in Escanaba, Mich. to Albert and Verna (Reno) Bonifas. Ivy ended up in Avon, Iowa where she met and married Madison (Matt) Sayre Feb. 18, 1984. Ivy attended the Area Eleven Community College in Iowa and worked as a CNA and CMA. The couple moved to Algoma in August of 1993. Ivy worked at Denny's Super Valu, Dairy Dan's, Dairy Dean's and the Algoma B.P. Her family and friends were the center of her life. Her outgoing nature made it impossible for her to see anyone as a stranger. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing. She will live forever in our hearts. Ivy is survived by her husband Matt, two sons Kenneth Vieth II; Joseph P. Sayre; one daughter Danielle L. Charles, two grandchildren Jasper Sayre and Peyton Charles; her mother Verna; four siblings sister Alberta (Don) St. Cyr; brother John Bonifas; sister Nancy (Tony) Sheski and brother Albert Bonifas Jr.; nine nephews and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her father Albert Bonifas Sr. A Memorial gathering will take place from 4 pm Friday, March 29, 2013 until the time of services at 7 pm at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma with Pastoral Minister Kathy Zeman officiating.
