Isabel Haegele Obituary
It’s no coincidence that the dear Lord decided to take our beautiful, 94 years young Mom, Isabel Haegele, home on our Dad’s birthday, October 22, 2022. Mom is now reunited with the forever love of her life as well as her son, Joey, grandson, Ben, son-in-law, Gary and her beloved parents and eight siblings whom she dearly missed on this earth.
Born to Otto and Carrie (Stegmann) Hanson in the parlor of their Clay Banks home on March 4, 1928, Mom cherished her memories growing up on the family farm with her sister, Hazel, and brothers Ole, Stanley, Forest, Grant, Alan, Loyal and Don.
Upon her graduation from Sturgeon Bay High School, Mom thoroughly enjoyed her bookkeeping position at Barker Washburn Lumber Co. for fifteen years.
Her marriage to Gerald Haegele on August 6, 1955, produced six children and Mom happily embraced her role of homemaker, encouraging and supporting our father in his many business endeavors along the way.
Due to an unfortunate divorce, Mom jumped back into bookkeeping mode at Jag, Inc. She overcame major adversity and summoned unbelievable inner strength to save and rebuild the business once again - her family her driving force.
Encouraged and mentored by her dear friend, Mary Charles, golf became a passion of Mom’s and spawned many amazing friendships throughout the years.  It was fun, therapeutic and even produced an unbelievable hole-in-one at Northbrook Country Club! As Mom slowed down physically, she mastered the art of sketching which gave her great pleasure.
Mom will be remembered for her unconditional love of family, her amazing strength, courage and wisdom; her zest for life, laughter and FUN!  Card playing, vacations, dancing and spending quality time with her family meant the world to her!
Mom was the last of her eight siblings to pass on, but she is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.  Her surviving children, Jane (Bob) Sweasy, Carrie Brackeen, Mary Jo (Steve) Liesch, Rebecca (Peter) Delain, Jennifer (Patrick) Heil will miss her dearly as will her grandchildren Mary Jane Haegele, Michelle (Chris) Heidmann, Rob (Kate) Sweasy, Tamara Sweasy and her special friend, Conrad, Tyler Brackeen, Alexa and Anna Liesch, Paul Delain, Patrick and Isabella Heil and great-grandchildren Alayna and Ryan Licklider, Joseph Haegele, Natalie and Carter Heidmann, Marah and Eden Sweasy.
Our deepest gratitude goes out to our sister, Jenny and her husband Patrick, for opening their hearts and home to our mother these last five years.  What a beautiful and selfless gift you gave to her!
Special thanks to Home Instead for providing loving caregivers in dear Katie, Lisa, April and Patti.  Juliana, you were Mom’s and “our” angel from the beginning. Unity Hospice, the support we received from you is priceless and we’ll be forever grateful.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 28, at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church, 6102 County Road OO, Sturgeon Bay, WI from 9 to 11am with service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Ben’s Wish, a not-for-profit organization established in Mom’s grandson’s memory, would be greatly appreciated.
The Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, was entrusted with the arrangements for Isabel and her family.
