Hiram Kolstad Obituary

Hiram A. Kolstad, 86 Algoma, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 1, 2014. He was born November 27, 1927 in Forestville to Adolph and Julia (Polecheck) Kolstad. Hiram graduated from the Algoma High School in 1945. He worked for a short time at the Algoma Hardwoods, before his induction into the US Army. He served from April 30, 1946 to April 21, 1947. He was awarded a World War II Victory Medal. Hiram married Annette MacLennan on June 24, 1950 in Algoma. After his discharge he worked again at the Algoma Hardwoods until his second tour in the Army in 1952. He served less than 6 months before he was called home due to the health of his father. After he came home he again worked at the Algoma Hardwoods until he retired in 1990. Hiram was a member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a life time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma. He enjoyed family gatherings, watching his grandchildren grow up, photography, bird watching, nature and he was a Packer and Brewer fan.Hiram is survived by his two daughters Elizabeth (Ray) Price, Sheboygan; Kathy (Mike) Aubry, Green Bay; four grandchildren Aaron (Rachelle) Price, Chicago; Amber Price, Chicago, (special friend Rob Swartzloff); Alec and Julia Aubry, Green Bay; two sisters-in-law Marilyn Grose, Sturgeon Bay; and Mary Perry, Sturgeon Bay; many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Annette of 50 years, and his sister Beulah Meyer.Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Moll officiating. Prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
