Gloria J Schmelzer

Gloria J Schmelzer, 67, Forestville, died Sunday Sept. 18, 2016 after a short illness. She was born in Algoma on May 4, 1949 to Clifford and Maxine (Krueger) Kroening. She attended Algoma High School.Gloria married Robert Schmelzer Dec. 30, 1967 in Maplewood. Gloria was a stay at home mom taking care of her four children. Her joy in life was her precious time with her husband, four children and later on her two grandchildren. They were her whole life and was so proud of everyone of them. Gloria loved to spoil her two grandchildren, working in her garden and living in Florida during the winter months. She was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood.Gloria is survived by her husband Robert, children Tammy (Nick) Joski, Green Bay; Marsha (Chad) Cherney, Sturgeon Bay; Troy (Tera) Schmelzer and Tracy (Peggy) Schmelzer all of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Danika and Tommy; one brother Jeff (Terry) Kroening, Algoma; Sister-in-law Chris Kroening, Algoma; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Randy, in-laws Delbert (Thelma) Schmelzer, aunts and uncles.Family and friends may gather at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church on Sat. Oct 8, 2016 from 9 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating. Private burial at a later date.A special thank you to Dr. Nathan Hayes and Dr. Matthew Ryan, also all the wonderful staff at Unity Hospice, especially Gwen, Jenny, Angie and Matt. Also Shirley and her Palliative care team at St. Vincent Hospital.
