Gertrude Emma Cihlar

Gertrude E. Cihlar, 92, Sturgeon Bay, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015. She was born April 6, 1923 in Maplewood to Fred and Margaret (Servaes) Dittmann. Gertrude worked at Green Bay Clothing before her marriage. She married George Cihlar January 10, 1959 in Algoma. The couple farmed for many years along with their son Dale.Gertrude was a very active woman including being a 4H Leader for the Lakeviewers Club, picked cherries and apples for many years, sewed many quilts and school bags for Mission and World Relief, worked at Kreft's cherry stand in Carlsville, playing cards with many friends, especially sheepshead, worked at the Farm Bureau stand cooking and making malts, she was famous for baking 'Gert's Dessert's' and lefse. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Gertrude is survived by her son Dale (Karen) Cihlar, Algoma; daughter Lisa (Don) Rawls, Sturgeon Bay; one sister Mary Ann ( Butch) Moeller, Sturgeon Bay; brother-in-law Clarence (Doloras) Cihlar, Sturgeon Bay; sisters-in-law Dorothy (Charles) Cihlar, Sturgeon Bay; Carolle (Joe) Cihlar, Sturgeon Bay; Sylvia (Peter) Cihlar, Jackson, WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, step grandchildren Trista (Steve) Baxter, Ashley Lautenbach, and Ethan (Sara) Lautenbach; step great grandchildren David (McKenzie) Baxter, Kayden Huff, Kyler Rylea and Case Lautenbach; and her 'second son' Nick Freimuth.Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, one brother, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.Friends may gather at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 from 9 a.m. until the services at 11 a.m. with Pastors James Gomez and Paul Thielfelder officiating. Burial in the Holy Name of Mary Cemetery in Maplewood next to her loving husband George. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 1756 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay in memory of Gertrude.
