On October 24, 2014 Germaine Dorothy (Zimmer) Brey peacefully passed away with family members present. She was born in Greenleaf, WI on May 3, 1924. Her parents were Anton Zimmer and Magdalen (Petri) Zimmer. She had three brothers, William, Edward (both deceased), and Ralph. She attended and graduated from St. Mary's School in Brillion, and Brillion High School. She was employed at the Algoma Plywood, at Clint's Deli, von Stiehl Winery and Katch's Store, and at the Kewaunee County Aging Resource Center as Meal Site Manager. Germaine also volunteered for St. Mary's Church (of Algoma), and at Kewaunee County Elderly Services activities, visiting the sick and elderly, and serving food at funerals.She married George Brey on Sept. 13, 1945 and they had four children. She was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother who wanted nothing more than to see her family happy. She lived simply and knew what was really important in life. She always wore a smile and treated everyone she met with respect. When George died in 1986, she handled it with courage and strength, despite her great sadness. Germaine is survived by her brother, Ralph Zimmer, four children, Donna Brey, Pat Brey (husband Les Totans), Nancy Dietrich (husband Robert), and Jim Brey (wife Candee). Grandchildren are Michael and Noel Dietrich, Jessica Elmore (husband Steve) and Zachary Totans (wife Diamond), and great grandchildren Evan and Austin Elmore. She loved her family and friends, and living in Algoma.She was a responsible, hard-working woman with great organizational skills. She enjoyed reading, going for walks, and spending time with friends. She always had a positive outlook, which she passed along to her children.Her family wishes to express many thanks to the staff at Bay Road Place of Algoma, Wyndemere Estates of Green Bay and AseraCare Hospice for caring for her in her final months.Family and friends may gather at St. Mary Catholic Church, 118 Church St., Algoma, from 10 am, Monday, Oct. 27th until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am with Rev.
