Ethel Amelia Wierichs

Ethel A. Wierichs, 97, Algoma, passed away Wed. Sept 7, 2016 at Bay Road Place in Algoma. She was born March 3, 1919 in Alaska, WI. to John and Emma (Shirkey) Meyer. Ethel was the fourth youngest of 12 siblings. She attended Alaska Grade School and as a young lady she worked as a nanny for a private family until her marriage to Hank Wierichs April 23, 1938 in Algoma. Ethel was involved in teaching many children how to knit and crochet as a leader in the 4-H for many years, she enjoyed all the family vacations with Hank and her children, she did all the bookkeeping for their Wierichs Oil business for years, and was known for all of her bread baking and canning everything they grew in their garden. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma and Women of St. Paul's, she was a member of the Organization of Wisconsin Lutheran Seniors, 4-H Leader and a member of the Hospital Auxiliary in Algoma.Ethel is survived by her three children Robert (Nancy) Wierichs, Hartland, WI; Barbara (Claude) Marcussen, Sturgeon Bay; and Don (Bobbi) Wierichs, Algoma; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; one sister Eme Bruss, Hartford, WI; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hank Dec. 21, 1999; and her 10 siblings Raymond (Erna) Meyer, Mabel (Armond) Wolfe, Maynard (Regina) Meyer, Harold (Behula) Meyer, Myrtle (Walter) Stickman, Edna (Sam) Wenz, Violet (Al) Drenski, Lee (Lita) Meyer, Ruth and Johnnie. Family and friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, Monday Sept. 12, 2016 from 9 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with Rev. John Moll officiating.
