Elsie Fahs Obituary

Elsie Caroline Ida Fahs, age 98 of Algoma passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. She was born in Luxemburg, Wisconsin on July 20, 1915 to the late Henry and Alvina (Zahn) Mueller. She became a child of God through her Baptism on July 25, 1915 and confirmed in her faith on June 15, 1930. She attended St. John's Lutheran Parochial School in Luxemburg, Wisconsin and later transferred to U. S. Grant School in the rural Luxemburg Area. On July 16, 1942, she married Sylvester Fahs at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kewaunee, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1969. After their marriage, Elsie traveled to a few different states to be with her husband, who was in the military service. After his discharge, they purchased a farm in the Town of Lincoln. She stayed on the farm until the untimely death of her husband and son when she then moved to the City of Algoma and then worked at the Algoma Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Elsie was active at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rankin by being a member of the Congregation, a member of St. John's Ladies Aid, quilting for Lutheran World Relief, being a volunteer at Bethesda Thrift Store in Green Bay, making booklets for the residents at Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown and also a member of St. John's Prayer Chain Ministry. Her enjoyments were playing cards and being with her family. Survivors include: her sister, Mildred Neuzil of Algoma; sisters-in-law: Sylvia Mueller of Brookfield; Helen Fahs of Luxemburg and Dorothy Salzseider of Kewaunee; Many nieces and nephews and a foster daughter Joan LeCaptain and her husband Don of Algoma. She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Sylvester; her son, Arnold; her brothers: Clarence, Harold, Henry and Harvey Mueller; sisters-in-law: Viola and Ginny, LaVern and LaVerne Mueller; brothers-in-law: Harvey Neuzil, Rhynold Fahs, Ornie and Sylvester Salzseider and foster daughter: Dawn Mayrack. Family and friends may call at the Schinderle Funeral Home after 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2014 until 8:00 PM. Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rankin from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Christopher Jackson. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. he family would like to extend a huge 'THANK YOU' to the Staff at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit for taking wonderful care of Elsie while she was a resident there and also a special thank you to her care provider, Linda Teske.
