Elaine Halverson Obituary

Elaine Ethel Halverson 101, Algoma, was so thankful to be called home to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025.

Elaine was born September 17, 1923, the daughter of Herman and Edna (Kramer) Sperber.  She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1941 and later that year was wed to Elton Halverson on June 19th at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.  they were blessed with 58 years of marriage and had three children.

Elaine was a member of Tanum-Forest Church and was a part of the Ladies Aid, Dorcas Circle and Pioneer women of the church.

There were several hobbies she enjoyed over the years, such as needlepoint, playing cards with her cousins, neighbors and friends, taking care of her lovely flowers, boating at the cottage, baking her "famous bread" and cooking dinners for her family.  Her company never could leave until they had coffee and dessert!

Elaine is survived by her son Dennis and daughter Rita (Bob) Lohrey; families are: Shawn (Erin) Olson; Steelen and Michal Jo, Casco; Christopher (Kit) Olson and Cash, Algoma;  Step families are: Dawn (Terry) Vandertie; Zach, Andrea and Eric; Debbie (Curt) Miller; Olivia (Nick) Rakers, Emilie (Nick, fiancé), Austin (Jada, significant other); Dean (Tammy) Lohrey; Connor and Alex; Rob and Terry Olson-Hansen, all of Algoma; Dave (Pam) Lohrey; Savanna (Jake, fiancé), Jaime Lohrey and Jake Campbell, all of Franklinton, N.C.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elton, son Danny, sisters and brothers-in-law Ethel (Ralph) Uecker and Joan (Blaine) Dreutzer.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church, from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM with Pastor Peter Mannoja officiating.  Lunch to follow and then burial at Forest Lutheran Cemetery.

A HUGE thank you to Autumn's Journey, Jenny and her compassionate staff; and Unity Hospice and their awesome staff.  All of you have shown such care, respect and compassion for mom, as well as for us. "There are definitely angels walking on earth".
