Edward Zimmer Obituary

Edward V. Zimmer, 85, Algoma, died Tues. Sept. 24, 2013 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. He was born Nov. 23, 1927 in Greenleaf to Anton and Magdeline (Petri) Zimmer. As a young man he helped on the home farm until he entered the Army Air Corp. on Feb. 2, 1946 and was discharged Aug. 5, 1947. He served overseas in Japan just after W.W.II ended guarding prisoners. After he come back he lived on a small farm in the Town of Clay Banks in Door Co. then he moved to Algoma where he worked at the US Plywood for about 40 years. Edward enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma. Edward is survived by one sister Germaine Brey, Algoma; one brother Ralph (Ann) Zimmer, Van Dyne; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother William and one brother-in-law George Brey. There will be a Memorial Mass on Saturday, Oct. 5th at St. Mary Church. A gathering will be from 10 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. The SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma assisted the family with arrangements.
