Edward (Bud) Holdorf, 80, Algoma, passed away peacefully getting his last wish to be at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with renal failure. He was born March 25, 1931 in Algoma to Ervin and Leona (Kostichka) Holdorf. Bud joined the US Navy during his junior year in high school and served on the USS Goodrich Ship. During his service in the US Navy he entered many contest for his yodeling ability. After his discharge Bud worked at the Kewaunee Corp of Engineers, then the Manitowoc Shipbuilding for 10 years, then joined the Local 400 Plumbers and Pipe fitters in Fond du Lac where he worked until he retired due to a disability. Bud enjoyed his time playing his baritone instrument with Stuart Storm. Both practiced their baritones together for many years. Bud belonged to the Hamilton Band in Two Rivers and then the Algoma Community Band for many years. Bud cherished the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He truly enjoyed doing his art work, yard work and was known for his jokes and his wit. Bud married Patricia Cookle on May 11, 1957 in Cooperstown. They had three daughters and were very involved with all the things they did while they were growing up. Bud is survived by his wife Patricia, three daughters Patrice (Daniel) Fischer, Manitowoc; Lisa (Robert) Coster, Raleigh, NC and Amy (Thomas) Jankowski, Wauwatosa; six grandchildren Kristine and Jacquelyn Coster, Tony and Gina Fischer and Blair and Mitch McLaughlin. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Aloysius and Clara (Koenig) Cookle, one sister Betty and two brothers-in-law Lee Cookle and Roger Meihsner. Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, 118 Church St., Algoma from 9 am on Monday Feb. 13, 2012 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Burial in the church cemetery with full Military Rites. The family extends a special thank you to the Dialysis Center of Sturgeon Bay and Unity Limited Partnership of DePere, especially Nancy and Patty, for all of their care and kindness given to Bud and his family.
