Doug Nell

Doug Nell, 51, Algoma, died unexpectedly Friday, July 1, 2011 at Ministry Door County Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1960 in Algoma to the late Carl Nell and Jeanette Nell. Doug graduated from the Algoma High School. After graduation he worked at Peterson Builders in Sturgeon Bay until it closed and then worked at Exactech as a welder and fitter until the present. Doug married Shelly Schmiling in Algoma on March 8, 1981. Doug was an avid hunter and Packer Fan and loved to go camping with his friends, but most of all he loved the time he spent with his grandson Brody. Doug is survived by his wife Shelly, two daughters Megan (Pete) Bormann and Brody; and Casey Nell, all of Madison; three sisters Sue (Merle) Rank, Bonnie (George) Baumann and Gladyce Rick) Cairns; three brothers Russ Nell, Lyle (Jill) Nell and Steve (Carmine) Nell; one sister-in-law Shirley Nell; brothers and sisters-in-law Terri (Dean) Blahnik and Steve (Heidi) Schmiling; father and mother-in-law Lyle and Bev Schmiling; nieces, nephews, great neices and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Carl Nell, his mother Jeannette Nell and one brother Mike Nell. Family and friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Monday, July 4, 2011 from 3 pm until 8 pm. Prayer service 7 pm at St. Paul's Church Visitaion continues on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 10 am until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
